Travel Advice: How to Avoid Coronavirus Infection on Board?

The outbreak of novel coronavirus is infecting masses across the globe and the health officials are urging caution for the safety of the people. Travellers who are travelling should be aware of the virus and should take preventive measures to avoid infection and other severe illnesses.

The virus has become a nightmare for almost everyone, especially for travellers. Countries like China, Italy, South Korea, and Iran have reported the maximum number of cases and strictly taking action to prevent the threat.

Travellers, you should know that there are health risks involved when you travel. You must keep monitoring your health and take specific measures for your safety. There are effective measures advised by WHO for the passengers on the flight. Let’s discuss them.

Wash Your Hands Frequently

To prevent yourself from the threat, you should regularly wash your hands with an alcohol-based hand wash. Why? Because washing your hands frequently can kill viruses that maybe stick to your hands.

Maintain Distance

Anyone who is coughing or sneezing, you should maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and the other person. Why? When someone who is coughing or sneezing, liquid droplets come out from their nose or mouth which may contain the virus. If you stand too close, the virus can come in contact with your breath and may cause the disease.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

You may not touch eyes, nose, and mouth frequently because touching these surfaces can easily pick up the virus. Your hands can transfer the virus through your eyes, nose or mouth; from these sensitive areas, the virus can enter your body and can affect you.

Follow Respiratory Hygiene

You need to make sure you, as well as the people around you, should follow respiratory hygiene actively. Meaning, you must always wear a mask when you are out and use tissue or elbow when you cough or sneeze. Why? Because if you don’t maintain personal hygiene, droplets can allow the virus to infect you or the other person. By following strict respiratory hygiene, you can protect yourself and the people around you.

Have a fever or cough? Seek Medical Help

If you are not feeling well, stay home. Have a fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing, you must immediately go for a medical check-up. This will protect you and help you prevent the infection from the COVID-19.
