Know more about your Airport

Know your airport

London Heathrow Airport is the 5th busiest airport in the world with 4 terminals lying 23km away from Central London. The airport is quite large, well connected with shuttle trains and can easily accommodate a large mob.

There you will find the 4 terminals as:

1. T2 or Terminal 2 – It is a new terminal and utilizes all the Star Alliance airlines and many others with its satellite building.
2. T3 or Terminal 3 – This terminal utilizes the mostly long-haul flights like Oneworld Alliance.
3. T4 or Terminal 4 – It utilizes the SkyTeam alliance.
4. T5 or Terminal 5 – It is a new age building that utilizes flights from airlines like Iberia, British Airways and other partner airlines. Its main building has a Concourse A with two satellite building B & C which can be easily accessed by an underground people mover.

T2 & T3 are nearby to each other but other terminals are far-off located and can be connected via following modes.

Train facilities – To move between terminals for free, Heathrow express trains are the best option. But if you plan to travel with London Underground, you will have to pay for it.

Bus facilities – Local buses will also help you to reach the terminals.

Airside – You can take the shuttle buses to commute between the terminals.

People mover underground – It will take you to the satellite building from the T5.

ULTra personal rapid transportation – It is an individual automated pod that takes around 4 adults and 2 children at a time from the T5 to the business carpark.

Mobile charging points

The airport's terminals have power pole charging stations available 24 hours to charge the dying cellular batteries. You can source them before and after security check-ins at all four terminals. The pole supports all UK, European charging plugs & even USB cables. A single pole can charge up to 8 devices at a single time.

Use Walkways for Gate B

It will take near about 5 to 10 minutes to reach A gate from T2 and about 25 minutes if your plane departs from gate B.

Brief about T2 terminal

This T2 or Queen's terminal is said to be one of the best terminals in the world since it offers various facilities. You can locate fancy shopping outlets like Dixons or some renowned fashion outlets along with some great food options to munch around.

You can invest yourself in great lounge options like Aer Lingus and the independent Plaza Premium lounge.

Cons: One has to take a long walk from Heathrow Express to the terminal & it will take another 15-20 minutes to reach gate B if your flight is departing from there.

Public convenience

Avoid using the centrally located washrooms at T5 as they are rushed during peak hours. It is best to use the remote & away located restrooms preferably close to North or South of the building. It is ideal to use the washrooms near the Gate A18.
